AOL password won’t work, can’t reset — AOL Password Reset Not Working
When you registered an AIM name then you wiould have been asked for a Secondary email for Password recovery.
You do get the option to Change AOL password On-Line (in the web Browser) but for that you should have set up the answers to a security question (home town, Favourite teacher, first pet — that sort of thing).
I found at one time (quite some time ago) that I appeared not to have done either — email or security question)
I am not entirely sure but I was once asked if I wanted my name to be an Email as well
(Basically it added @AIM.com to the name) but I am not sure If I needed my password to change this (or where it was done)
If AOL account won’t let you change the password, it simply implies:
Causes:
You’re sending some spam content in a mail or,
You’ve logged-in your AOL account from multiple devices or,
Your credit card information attached to AOL account has been stolen and used in unusual places
Solution: To fix this error-
First, log in your AOL account and under settings, select “Logout from all devices” option.
This way, your AOL account if has been logged in at any other place, will sign-out.
Secondly, make sure you aren’t sending any spam content to anyone via mail. If so, then contact the Email Desktop Gold Support to get rid of this error.
Lastly, contact your bank and ask, if your credit card has been used at some unusual places, without your concern. If so, get your card blocked and reach the support services to inform about the same.
You can even ask official AOL support to change the attached credit card with your account.
Once the ‘AOL won’t let me reset Password’ problem gets fixed, you can change AOL password. For steps, refer the points at end of the post.
• Use the Sign-in Helper to locate your username and regain access to your account by entering your recovery mobile number or alternate email address.
• If you know your username but need to reset your AOL password, make sure you create a strong password after you’re back in your account.
• If your browser remembers passwords, you can check your autofill settings to find your password.
When you suspect that your AOL account has been hacked, immediately change the AOL password.
To begin, launch Desktop Gold and type username in the field. Next, click ‘Continue’ button.
Then, on password screen, tap on ‘Forgot password’ link.
On the next screen, type your recovery mail address or phone number i.e. registered with AOL account, to reset AOL password.
If you type mail ID, then open it on browser to check the AOL mail and click on the Password reset link.
However, if you type AOL registered the phone number, then type the phone received OTP on AOL screen.
After this, you will be directed to password reset page. There, type the new password and click OK button to change AOL password.
You get an “Invalid Password” error
This error message means that the username and password combination you entered doesn’t match what we have on record. Consider the following:
• Check “caps lock” or “num lock” keys — These keys change the value of what you’re actually typing.
• Update your browser autofill settings — If your browser remembers passwords, you may need to update your autofill settings after changing your password.
• Try another web browser — If you can access your account in another browser, the problem isn’t with your account; you’ll need to fix the issue in your preferred browser.
• Someone changed your password — An unauthorized party could have broken in and changed your password. Use the Sign-in Helper to get back into your account and change your password. Then, review your account settings to undo changes you didn’t make and secure your account.
Other sign-in issues
If you sign in from a device, program, or location that we haven’t seen you use before, we may ask you to enter a verification code (sent to your recovery mobile phone or email address) to verify that it’s really you. If the recovery options displayed for your account are out-of-date, go to the “Still can’t get signed in?” section of this help article for more info.
Two-step verification is enabled but you’re not asked to verify your identity
You’ll be sent a verification code the first time you sign in from a device, browser, or location you haven’t used before. After successful verification, you may not be prompted to enter a verification code again when you sign in using the same device, browser, or location. Go to your Recent activity page to deauthorize a device, browser, or location.
If you’re caught in a loop where the sign-in screen keeps reappearing after you click “Sign in,” you’ll need to reset the “sign-in” cookie.
1. After entering your username on the sign-in page, click Not you?
3. Click Sign in.
If that doesn’t fix the problem, try these steps and attempt to sign in after each one:
1. Clear your browser’s cookies.
2. Quit and then restart your browser.
3. Use a different supported web browser.
4. Try logging into a different sign-in page, like our primary login page or the AOL Mail sign-in page.
